Buick has been pushing their anti-grandma car campaign and they’ve had some success at it. One last big push was getting the 4-person 2016 Buick Cascada to become more than a grandma’s drop top. And they did.

Out of all the vehicles driven, the Buick Cascada had to be the biggest ‘surprise’. We expect supercars to act like supercars, we expect small hopped-up cars to act like small hopped-up cars, we don’t expect Buick’s to be awesome, but the two we’ve driven are.

In the Buick Cascada, the gas pedal is ‘happy’ when pressed to the floor even a little bit, the ride is comfortable yet responsive in the corners and the sound system is great with the top up or down.

It’s powered by a turbocharged 1.6L 4-cylinder engine connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission that wasn’t glacial by any means.

The suspension had something else not usually represented on Buick vehicles: a sport-tuned suspension.

If they put one of those much-beloved ‘GS’ buttons like they did in the Regal, the Cascada would be even better.

Even without it, though, the Cascada is an impressive Buick and an impressive 4-person convertible.

The front seats are heated and the rear seats won’t cut circulation to adult legs. There’s a 7-speaker premium sound system connected to a 7-inch touchscreen display accessing all the Bluetoothed or broadcasted media a driver could want.

As a whole package, the Buick Cascada is a car for cruising. For dropping the top, letting the wind take your hair and enjoying the sun.
