Seattle is the launchpad for PSE Groupe’s return to North America, called Free2Move. The new smartphone-based application will allow users to compare different costs of available platforms, such as Zipcar or Car2Go.

PSA plans to expand into new cities and add more providers and transportation options. Free2Move has helped more than 400,000 users throughout Europe find their mode of transportation from around 30 operators.

“Free2Move will enrich the lives of Americans who embrace innovative, non-traditional forms of transportation,” said Groupe PSA Senior Vice President of Mobility, Brigitte Courtehoux.

Free2Move isn’t just for car-sharing, but also works with bike-share and scooters. They are currently working with the City of Seattle to improve mobility options, including improving access to car- and bike-sharing services. Ofo Bike, Lime Bike and Spin Bike services are being added to the list of available Seattle options in the next 60-days.

“The decision to launch a service that helps people move around in the most efficient way underscores our commitment to the future of Groupe PSA,” said Groupe PSA’s North America President and CEO, Larry Dominique.

Along with hosting third-party platforms, such as Car2Go or Zipcar, Free2Move will also sync all the separate accounts into one place for a more streamlined booking experience.

Free2Move has been operating in Europe for several years, expanding across 17 cities and 7 countries.

PSA Groupe was formerly known as PSA Peugeot Citroën (1991 to 2016) and owns the vehicle brands Peugeot, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Opel and Vauxhall, some of which were last available in the US 26 years ago.

“Bringing Free2Move stateside provides us with a unique way to address consumer demands, as well as a flexible platform to roll out future products,” Dominique said.

The Free2Move app is intended as a means of finding sharing platforms along with eventually offering maintenance or vehicle sales. The Free2Move brand provides a means of expanding into North America and offering more options – including vehicles in the parent brand.

The Free2Move app is available for download on the Google Play and the Apple App Store.
